WikiLeaks: US acknowledges Yushchenko violated Ukraine's constitutional and democratic rights
Yushchenko forced early parliamentary elections in 2007 "by breaking the law," and the Orange Revolution "hero" squandered his popular support during his presidency, leaving Ukraine as a "country on hold, with no strategic direction." This latest revelation was disclosed in a WilkiLeaks publication of a diplomatic cable from the U.S. Embassy in Baku to the U.S. State Department dated Nov. 13, 2007. The "West" knew that Yushchenko's actions were unconstitutional. Having at first expressed concern in a report by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe the "west", the US in particular, stood silent as Yushchenko violated Ukraine's constitutional and human rights.
